Subclass 820 Visa

PARTNER VISA (PERMANENT)

This visa lets the de facto partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen live in Australia permanently. It is usually only for people who currently hold a temporary Partner visa (subclass 820).

This is a permanent residence visa which would allow you to live, work and study in Australia indefinitely. You can also sponsor eligible family members to come to Australia and apply for Australian citizenship if eligible.

Subclass 309 Visa

PARTNER (PROVISIONAL) VISA

This visa lets the de facto partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen live in Australia temporarily. Getting this visa is the first step towards a permanent Partner visa (subclass 100).

With this visa you can live, work and study in Australia while your Partner (Migrant) visa is in process. You can travel to and from Australia as many times as you want using this visa.

Subclass 100 Visa

PARTNER (MIGRANT) VISA

The visa lets the de facto partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen, live in Australia permanently. It is usually granted to people who hold a temporary Partner visa (subclass 309).

This is a permanent residence visa which would allow you to live, work and study in Australia indefinitely. You can also sponsor eligible family members to come to Australia and apply for Australian citizenship if eligible.

A Partner Visa allows the de facto partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen to live with their partner in Australia.

  • You must be the spouse (married) or de facto partner of an:
    • Australian citizen
    • Australian permanent resident
    • eligible New Zealand citizen
  • Your relationship can be with someone of the same or different sex
  • You must be 18 years old or older

A Visa Application Charge (Government Fee) for partner visa applications starts at approximately AUD $7,000.00 for applications lodged from Australia or the overseas.
